A Little About Me...
Do movies spark joy for you? If so, you might find a common thread running through my writing. But if not, don't worry! Just keep reading, and we'll see where this journey takes us.
There's a famous Polish filmmaker, Krzysztof Kieślowski, whose work has really made me think. Early in his career, he made a documentary called "Talking Heads." The idea was simple but profound: he asked people, "Who are you?" and "What do you want?" Then, at the end, he turned the camera on himself and asked those very same questions. Just like him, I find myself grappling with these questions all the time. The answers, at least for me, are always changing.
Kieślowski once said, "I don’t like myself very much, so I try not to observe myself too often... I realized that I didn’t have any answers. I don’t know who I am, and I don’t know what I want. If anything, I’d like some peace and quiet, but I’ve never achieved it, and I probably never will. So, I will never have what I really want."
It's a bit of a downer, I know, but it's honest. Lately, I've been thinking that maybe the key isn't to find the one perfect thing you love. Instead, maybe it's about figuring out what you absolutely don't want in your life, in your mind, in your soul. I have a pretty good sense of the things that rub me the wrong way, the thoughts I'd rather not entertain. That feels like a good starting point. Of course, life is a moving target, and my preferences are no exception. They shift and evolve, but there are definitely a few constants, a few things I know I can do without. And those are the thoughts that I try to share in my blog, to help others find their way, to see their world and the things in it from a different perspective, through my lens, by my words.
